Hello, and welcome to the first non-sweater-related post-Thanksgiving Remy's World column. How was your Thanksgiving? Good, I hope. Mine was great. Turkey and family and pie and whatnot. Also, guess how much I ran? None. I ran NONE MILES. And not just on Thanksgiving day, either. I ran none miles on the day after Thanksgiving, none more on Saturday and none on Sunday. Just to recap, that's: 0+0+0+0=0. (Take that, RW Holiday Streak !) If it sounds like I'm proud of this fact, that's because I am. Not that I'm an advocate of sloth. Far from it. It's just that I've learned over the years that not running can sometimes take as much discipline as running does. And that if your goal is to be a happy, healthy, lifelong runner, sometimes you really need to take some time off.
