WINTERGREEN, VA — Max King and Ellie Greenwood ran away from some of North America’s best ultrarunners to win the second annual Ultra Race of Champions 100K races on Saturday. King, racing for the third championship race in eight days, won the men’s 100K (62-mile) race in 7 hours, 57 minutes and 2 seconds. The 32-year-old Bend, Ore., resident took the lead early in the race and outran fellow Cornell graduate Sage Canaday , who was second in 8:12:05.
