[email protected]_Farah wins third straight world 5K title: #Beijing2015

Mo Farah waited until the final 100 meters to speed past Caleb Ndiku of Kenya and win a slow-paced 5,000 in 13:50.38 at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing on Saturday. Ndiku ran 13:51.75 for silver. Ethiopia’s Hagos Gebrhiwet of Ethiopia took the bronze in 13:51.86. American Galen Rupp was fifth in 13:53.90, with his teammate Ben True sixth in 13:54.07 and Ryan Hill seventh in 13:55.10. After an extraordinarily slow beginning, more akin to what would be expected in the women's 5,000 final, Farah covered the final kilometer in 2:19.23. It was the seventh consecutive global world or Olympic distance final won by Farah. He won the 5K/10K double at the 2012 Olympics and last two world championships, as well as the 2011 5,000 world title.
