The @ChiMarathon has eliminated pacers for elite runners:

Since then, some have argued, the races have often been yawn-inducing. Carey Pinkowski, Chicago’s race director, is hoping that eliminating the pacesetters will stir more excitement. “Without the rabbits, the leaders need a much greater level of concentration,” Pinkowski told the Tribune . “That will allow us to see more tactics, strategy and competition throughout the race.” Race day is Sunday, October 11, 2015. The elite fields have not yet been announced, except that Deena Kastor and Joan Benoit Samuelson will return to commemorate their wins at the 2005 and 1985 Chicago marathons, respectively. Kastor is also hoping to break the masters American record of 2:28:40.
