An inside look at representing the U.S. at the Pan Am Games.

The athletes’ village was an amazing place. A microcosm of athletic talent, it was filled with individuals gifted in their respective discipline. Walking around the village, which was located just outside of downtown Toronto, I saw other runners, boxers, bowlers, or some exceptionally tall athletes—who I can only assume were competing on a volleyball or basketball team. And dining hall was great, too. A humungous tent was open 24 hours a day with multiple buffet lines of an assortment of foods. The village had multiple viewing with TV screens showing events, a game room, a free-of-charge hair and nail salon, and therapy dogs . Yes, there were therapy dogs that would occasionally walk through the village simply to increase the happiness factor of an already spoiling home-away-from-home.
