Catherine Watkins, a 43-year-old mother from Vancouver has been having quite the year. After amazing race performances this season including her win at the Eugene Marathon in May , she’s just been selected to represent Canada in the marathon at the Pan Am Games next month. She’ll run on July 18. Watkins accepted the offer last week but the news became official Monday night. Watkins says she’s excited as this has always been a dream for her. “It’s an overwhelming experience,” she says. “The last five days have just been craziness.” This is especially good news considering her bittersweet finish at Eugene on Mother’s Day. While she was happy to celebrate her win, she was disappointed to not have qualified for Pan Ams.
