If only a grand finale were as easy as a quick arm toss: “Runners often have a lot of misconceptions about what it takes to finish strong—it involves planning, proper pacing, and some surreal mental and physical fortitude to keep going when your body wants to slow down,” says Ryan Warrenburg, head coach for ZAP Fitness Coaching in North Carolina.
