Sarasota Sunshine and Orange Groves
The blossoms were so incredibly fragrant and peeking up at trees absolutely bursting with fresh Florida oranges was breathtaking. While we explored the groves, we learned a little bit more about the oranges that surrounded us, Tropicana 100% pure-squeezed orange juice (nothing added – no water, sugar or preservatives, etc.) and the process it takes to get the the oranges “from grove to glass.” Each tree in the grove typically produces around 500 oranges (or around 8.4 gallons of orange juice) annually. One fact I found particularly interesting is that unlike bananas, once picked, oranges do not continue to ripen and only begin to rot so it is important to juice them quickly for optimal taste. Once picked, the oranges in the groves are juiced within 8 to 24 hours.
