Craft Breweries Correlate with Good Health

By Meghan G. Loftus An interesting write-up over at The Atlantic Cities finds a correlation between the number of craft breweries per capita in a state and how that state fares on certain health measures. Places that have more craft brewing are more likely to have lower rates of smoking, and much lower rates of obesity, than places with less craft brewing. Also, a higher concentration of craft breweries is associated with "higher levels of happiness and well-being." Yes, it's just a correlation—there's no data to suggest that craft breweries cause happiness, well-being, or better overall health. But we'll drink to it, anyway.
