Our video guys did an awesome job turning my dumb idea of engraving a crystal horse as a trophy into a funny video:

You know what? Sometimes delayed gratification is the very best kind. You may remember that back in April I shared the exciting news that I'd "won" the 21-miler event at the Big Sur Marathon . Except... Oh, wait. I forgot to add the humongous, throbbing asterisk to that previous sentence. The asterisk, of course, is to clarify that actually nobody "won" the 21-miler, since the 21-miler is a "NON-COMPETITIVE timed fitness event" -- the actual phrase (and formatting!) used on the race's official website -- which I'd have known if I'd taken the time to read about this race NON-COMPETITIVE timed fitness event before I ran it, which of course I hadn't, leading to my feeling like the world's biggest dipwad for talking postrace about "winning." Talk about a letdown. No recognition. No award. Nothing, unless you count the prize I presented myself that evening, which admittedly did...
