Bad habit: Bingeing in the evening You run in the morning but don’t eat much during the day because you’re dealing with life – and then you binge at dinner and later. Break the cycle: Have healthy food to hand. ‘We eat what’s convenient and in sight,’ says Brian Wansink, director of the Cornell Food and Brand Lab in the US. He recommends appetite-satisfying foods that travel well, such as nuts and apples. Sit down as early as possible for a balanced dinner. Still hungry? Take a few bites of a snack, then wait a few minutes. Wansink’s studies suggest the first few bites deliver most of the pleasure. ‘Small-portion snackers are just as satisfied as those who choose standard-sized portions,’ he says.
