Colby Alexander just beat three Olympians at their own game. The former Oregon Duck broke away on the homestretch of the Track Town Summer Series 1500m to take down David Torrence and Ben Blankenship in a new personal best of 3:34.88. U.S. Olympic team member Robby Andrews faded to seventh. Heading into the Bowerman Curve at Hayward Field, Blankenship maintained the lead while Alexander tucked behind him. All the while, Torrence calculated his move on the outside. As the trio neared the finish line, Alexander powered past Blankenship to run a new personal best by two seconds. Torrence edged Blankenship out for second with a time of 3:34.95 while Blankenship finished third in a slight personal best of 3:35.02.
