Lately, we’ve been doing a bit more justice to the second word in our name. What’s it like to be a runner in other parts of the world? Maybe we’re hopped up on globalization, or maybe we know we’ll never travel to all the places on our life lists, so as a balm we ask locals to send us dispatches. How is running in, say, Paris or Bangkok different than in Philly or Bangor? For our latest “Running the World” dispatch, we went to Djibouti , and elite runner Becky Wade described the yearlong globe-trotting adventure she took after finishing college in 2012. She stumbled on so many indelible experiences, including a 5K that detoured through a mall in Sweden and a postrace feast at the great Halie Gebreselassie’s house in Ethiopia, that she would’ve missed had she turned pro right after graduation.
