A new study looks at what millennial runners want:

1. Millennials run primarily to maintain or improve their fitness, and they love to challenge themselves. They care about the distance and cost of the races they run, and the quality of the race “swag” and postevent parties. They are less interested in event sponsors, age-group awards, and auto-generated social media feeds prior to or during an event. “If you’re an event director and you’re trying to create the best experience, if you’re limited on resources, come back to yourself and say, ‘How are these add-ons going to add benefit, in general, to that experience?’” Feldmann told Runner’s World by phone. “If the answer is very loose, it’s probably not worth it in this instance.” 2.
