The Papal visit is a godsend for one Philadelphia runner: #PopeInPhilly

Manwaring, 37, boasts a marathon personal best of 3:02, and she hosts group runs a few times each year leaving from her studio. She holds one every Christmas, for instance, and she offered one in March to celebrate the beginning of daylight saving time. The group runs are free and open to anyone, and Manwaring has been drawing about 150 runners. At the last one, she joked to participants that despite the swelling crowds, she wasn’t able to close the roads. That changes this weekend. With Pope Francis in Philadelphia, roads throughout the city, including Manayunk, are closed to vehicle traffic. Perfect for a bunch of runners looking for a Sunday morning long run. On Monday, Manwaring, a practicing Catholic, posted on her Facebook page advertising the POPE-ATHON with the tagline, “We are running to you, Pope Francis.” She plans to start the run at 7:00 a.m. from GoalsFit and...
