Champ Goldy, 98, ran the 100-meter dash at the 121st edition of the Penn Relays in Philadelphia in 33.09 seconds on Saturday. It was the fifth time Goldy, a Haddonfield, New Jersey, resident, had run at Penn, but he wasn’t thrilled with his time. “I hope [I didn’t run 33 seconds],” he told the Asbury Park Press after crossing the finish line. “That’s not very good.” He’s hoping he’ll have another opportunity or two at the distance, though. He wants to run the 100 meters when he’s 100, according to the Philadelphia Daily News . Goldy didn’t start running seriously until he retired from his post as a Methodist minister when he was 70. He’s been competing at the Penn Relays since 2001, when he ran 17.5 in the 100 meters to take fourth place. Alby Williams, 75, won this year’s 75-and-up race in 14.15 seconds.
