It’s important to have a nutrition plan for the week leading up to your marathon. Not only will this provide the perfect complement to your taper, but it will also get you to the starting line ready to run your best. But nutrition planning starts even before your training mileage starts to wind down; below, you’ll also find tips for marathon fueling up to 16 weeks out from your big race. 16 weeks out: Do your research. Start your training on the right foot by keeping track of your mileage, prerun meals, and midrun fluid and fuel intake.
