Great Britain's Jessica Ennis set a national heptathlon record when she put together a 2012 world-leading total of 6,906 points at the famous Hypo meeting in the Austrian town of Götzis on Sunday. It moved the 2010 European Athletics Championships gold medallist up to number eight on the all-time list for the seven-event discipline, and she becomes the sixth best European ever. It was also the best heptathlon result in the world since Sweden's Carolina Klüft set the European record of 7032 points when winning at 2007 World Championships. "I knew I was capable of doing it.
