3 tips for staying safe on snow-covered roads: #RWWinterWeek

If you're looking to stay injury-free so you can enjoy training in the spring when it finally arrives, here are a few strategies you can employ: 1. Try these easy exercises after your runs to improve balance and to strengthen the muscles that will help you stay upright. 2. In snow, run slower and look for snow that's already been packed down–it'll provide slightly better traction. Beware of hidden icy patches, especially later in winter when things have melted and frozen up again. 3. Ice is bad news. Don't run outside in ice. Get yourself to a treadmill, or try a cross-training machine or pool running. For all our winter-running tips and tricks, check out our Running in Cold training page here . Now you tell us: What's your best winter training tip? What conditions will keep you on the treadmill?
