Happy Thanksgiving! Good luck to everyone running a Turkey Trot today!

Buffalo YMCA Turkey Trot Where: Buffalo, New York Distance: 8K Why We Like It: The longest consecutively run race in the country, this spirited 8K, now in its 119th year, helped spark the trend for turkey trots by routinely selling out. (Registration for the 2014 event closed at 14,000 runners.) Nothing has stopped this race from starting since it began in 1896, including a freak blizzard in 2000 where Buffalo Mayor Anthony Masiello had to order the streets cleared for the race. This year will come with more emotion than usual as race director Tom Donnelly, a well-known figure in the Buffalo running community, recently died unexpectedly, according to local news reports.
