BRIEF: Dogs who killed a runner in Michigan had bitten others:

The two Cane Corsos who fatally attacked a Michigan runner last week had bitten others on at least two occasions, USA Today reports . Last Wednesday, 46-year-old Craig Sytsma, of Livonia, Michigan, was beset by the dogs while he ran in Metamora Township. Since the attack, the Detroit Free Press has discovered the dogs were known to have bitten pedestrians in 2012 and 2013. After the 2013 incident, the owners, Valbona Lucaj and Sebastiano Quagliata, didn't appear for a court date, paid a $280 fine, and saw the case closed. Neighbors told the Free Press the dogs, a breed of mastiff, were often allowed to run free, and that they were a known menace. No charges have been filed against Lucaj and Quagliata, but under state law they could face involuntary manslaughter charges, according to USA Today .
