Runners Narrowly Win Race Against Boston Trolley via @RunnersWorld

“Rapid transit”? Not so much. Three runners gave lie to the term by beating a Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority Green Line trolley in an apparently first-of-its kind 4.1-mile race that turned out to be much closer than riders of the Green Line’s notoriously slow B Train might have predicted. The fastest runner finished in 24:08. The trolley? It managed a respectable 24:49. “That was closer than I thought it was going to be,” said Phil Connaughton (24:11), one of the runners and a software engineer at Boston-based RunKeeper , which co-organized the spectacle along with an events website called the Boston Calendar. “They kept pulling away, so we were nervous.
