Watch @Sksambu's 14:05 solo 5k at the Oyster Bay Turkey Trot.

Stephen Sambu runs 14:04 and shatters the previous Long Island 5k record of 14:43. More importantly, the victory will help Sambu get clean water back his home village in Kenya. Citius Athletics, the race's organizer, will donate some of the registration fees towards purchasing a water purification system. Though Sambu did not meet his pre-race goal of sub-14, the former Arizona Wildcat comes away with a record and money for his village. My apologies for missing the finish. It was so cold that I couldn't feel my hand on the camera.
