(Getty Images) Marianna Zachariadi, one of Europe's most promising pole vaulters who had competed for both Greece and Cyprus, has died at the tragically young age of just 23. Zachariadi, who won silver in the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi in 2010, had been suffering from Hodgkin lymphoma cancer. Greek-born Zachariadi was diagnosed with the illness in 2011 and she died on Monday. She represented Greece until 2007 when Cypriot citizenship saw her then achieve some of her greatest sucesses. At the Mediterranean Games in Pescara in 2009 she took silver and won the same medal the following year at the Commonwealth Games.
