Champion stair-climber Thomas Dold's secret to success, revealed!

When the horn blows at the start of next Wednesday's Empire State Building Run-Up , we'll see a familiar face out front--Thomas Dold will be racing for an eighth straight win. Dold, a 28-year-old German, is an entrepreneur and professional tower runner --one of a handful of athletes who travel the world to race up the stairwells of skyscrapers. Among such events, the Empire State Building Run-Up is widely considered the most prestigious. Entrants navigate 86 stories, or 1,576 steps, to finish on the building's Observation Deck. The course record is 9 minutes and 33 seconds, set by Paul Crake in 2003, but no one has dominated the Run-Up quite like Dold, who has won the event every year from 2006 through 2012.
