By Peter Gambaccini Photo by Victah Sailer Perhaps the biggest question about Sunday's Berlin Marathon is whether the Geoffrey Mutai who's showing up to race can recapture the spectacular racing form of the Mutai of 2011. In that spring, Mutai ran the fastest marathon ever, a 2:03:02 on at Boston on a course that is not eligible for world record consideration. Last November, he won the New York City Marathon in 2:05:05. Both efforts shattered course records by two and a half minutes. In his return to Boston this past April, however, Mutai wilted in the heat and dropped out. He has had some fine competitive performances since then, including a 27:29 victory in the B.A.A. 10K. But is he ready to challenge Patrick Makau's world record of 2:03:38 in Berlin?
