By Scott Douglas Photo by Victah Sailer Registration for the 2013 Boston Marathon opens Monday, September 10 at 10 a.m. Eastern time. Here's what you need to know about it. According to Jack Fleming, director of marketing and communications for the Boston Athletic Association, the 2013 field will be set at 27,000 runners , the same as in recent years. Roughly 80 percent of the field, or about 21,600, will consist of runners who have met the qualifying standard for their age and gender; the remaining slots will be filled by invited and charity runners. Registration for qualifiers will happen on a rolling basis , with the fastest qualifiers getting the first shot at a spot in April 15's marathon. Runners who have met their qualifying standard by 20 minutes or more are the only ones who can start to register at 10 a.m. on Monday. Starting Wednesday, September 12 at 10 a.m., r...
