Headline check on Stanford "Organic foods not more healthy" study:

You might have seen some headlines last week about a Stanford study in the Annals of Internal Medicine comparing organic and conventional foods. UPI's headline was "Organic Food Not More Nutritious "; the press release from Stanford was titled "Little evidence of health benefits from organic foods, Stanford study finds." Hopefully you read past the headlines -- because, as is often the case, the articles themselves actually did a pretty good job of presenting the complexities and ambiguities of the research. Some notes from Stanford's press release describing the meta-analysis, which aggregated the results of 237 studies: There were no long-term studies of health outcomes of people consuming organic versus conventionally produced food; the duration of the studies involving human subjects ranged from two days to two years.
