First, let me say that I love your website, blog, and your Injury Prevention Guide. I am a 62 year old female runner and have been running consistently for 17 years. The first 15 years I ran completely injury free, and while not competitive, I would often place in my age group, particularly as I hit mid-50’s and above. The last two years, however, have been tough. I fractured my second metatarsal (probably because I retired and upped my mileage unwisely on ran way too much on hot concrete in AZ), and then a year later I developed serious pain in my knees. Long story short, while doing the Hana Relay in Hawaii my right knee totally gave up on me and the pain was rough. I currently have 3 diagnoses from doctors, from meniscus tears to wornout patella, with the most likely being a combination of both.
