Study: There is such a thing as too much vitamin D. via @SweatScience

Some surprising data on vitamin D from a new University of Copenhagen study, just published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism , suggesting that there is such a thing as too much vitamin D, after all. The data set is pretty unique: thanks to a Danish national database, the researchers were able to retroactively look up the results of 254,574 blood samples taken in the Copenhagen area, and then cross-reference those results to check which patients subsequently died. Here's what the data looks like (from the excellent press release accompanying the report): The horizontal axis shows blood levels of vitamin D, while the vertical axis shows the likelihood of death during the study relative to the "optimal" level of 50 nmol/l. As expected, low levels are bad news: those below 10 nmol/l were 2.3 times more likely to die during the average three-year follow-up....
