Former American 10K record-holder @ChrisSolinsky won't race at the Olympic Trials. Here's why:

By Peter Gambaccini Photo by Victah Sailer Chris Solinsky, the first American under 27:00 for 10,000 meters and the second fastest American ever at 5,000 meters, is still on the road back from major hamstring surgery and has elected not to enter the U.S. Track and Field Trials in Eugene, Ore., in June. "I'm going to have to bag it this year and swallow the hard pill that it's not going to happen," Solinsky told the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel . "I'm 27 years old and I'm just getting in the prime of my career," Solinsky told the paper of his home state of Wisconsin. "I was setting myself up to have a really legitimate chance to win a medal [in London]. That's been the hardest part, because of where I saw my progression going and what I was capable of."
