The Brain Benefits of Resistance Training | Sweat Science

So yesterday I posted about the brain-boosting effects of exercise, and opined that aerobic exercise was the one true path to cognitive enhancement. There's little evidence that resistance training helps, I said. Shortly after posting, I saw this tweet : The link takes you to a news article about a brand-new study in the Archives of Internal Medicine that came out on Monday. Researchers at the University of British Columbia took a group of women between the ages of 70 and 80 with mild cognitive impairment, and assigned them to one of three groups: resistance training twice a week for 60 minutes; aerobic exercise (outdoor walking) twice a week for 60 minutes; a control group that did balance and "tone" exercises.
